OCCHD investigates tuberculosis exposure at Edmond Santa Fe

The Oklahoma City-County Health Department is investigating a tuberculosis exposure at Edmond Santa Fe High School.

Health officials told KOCO 5 Tuesday that affected students and staff have been notified, and the department will conduct testing for those affected.

Oklahoma City-County Health Department officials said in a statement.

Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by bacteria that usually affects the lungs but can also affect other parts of the body such as the kidneys, spine and brain.

The disease is airborne and can spread between people sharing the same airspace.
